How to send large files in Gmail

At the moment, Yahoo Mail lets you attach files of up to 25MB, which is the same as Gmail. The process of attaching a file is very similar: just find the paperclip icon and choose the file(s) you need to send. All of the files are also checked for viruses, with extra attention paid to .exe files.

Some security checks may automatically consider an .exe file suspicious and send your letter without it attached. Even if it’s attached and sent successfully, your recipient’s inbox may ignore this attachment, so it will never be delivered. Just to be sure it’s delivered to destination, it’s better to upload this type of files to a third-party platform and then include a link in your letter.

Gmail also provides the option of inserting Google Drive files or inserting a link (if you’re using another cloud service). Unlike Yahoo Mail, you’ll have to click on the Google Drive icon to share files if you’re using a computer. You can tap CTRL + K or click the “Insert link” icon next to the paperclip icon to insert a link.

Different Ways to Send a Large File From Yahoo Mail

Reducing Size of a Message, You Send

As I have mentioned earlier, the maximum size of the email that Yahoo offers to send at a time is 25 MB. So, if the message you are about to send exceeds the limit a little bit, you can reduce the size of your message by following ways:

  • Compressing the File Before Sending
  • Send Separate Mails if you have multiple files
  • Rather than attaching files send a downloadable link

Now, let’s describe them in detail

Compressing the File Before Sending

There are various desktop and online tools that you can use to compress your files or folders into one.

The most common Desktop tool to compress your file is WinZip and WinRAR. The tool compresses one-to-many files into a zip file that has relatively less size than uncompressed files. Then send your Yahoo email attaching the compressed file. Sending this kind of data, however, requires the receiver to have the same tool to unzip the files.

The most common online tools to compress files are youcompress, pdfcompressor, wecompress, Tinyjped, and so on. These tools require you to upload your files to their web browser and will provide you a compressed folder. You need to download these compressed files and attach them to your Yahoo email. The limitation of the online tool is that you will not get to compress any type of file in one place. Some compressor offers at most two types of files to compress. Meaning, you cannot compress your pdf file on a webpage that compresses images.

Send Separate Mails if you have Multiple Files

Now let’s suppose your compressed files to their extent. However, the file size still exceeds 25MB. You might be thinking about what should you do. This section of the article is for you.

What you can do is. If you have multiple files that you need to send, you can break those files down into small chunks and compress them separately in chunks. Now, the next step is to send those emails messages separately.

For example, I have 30 images with a size of 1MB each. The total size of the attachment is 50 MB. I used TinyJPEG to compress my images; however, the tool only compressed the image by 25% that led to 37.5MB in total. I can’t send this file, so I again compressed these files using WinRAR, which compressed them to a further 5%. However, still, I am left with 35.6MB, which I can’t send.

So, the solution is to break down the compressed images into two half and send them in two separate Yahoo emails. this way I can send large files From Yahoo Mail.

Send a Downloadable Link

Most of the time, the photographers won’t use compressor tools to compress their images as it will degrade the quality of the picture by a certain amount. And if you have a single file that exceeds the file size that yahoo has limited, then the steps mentioned above won’t work for you. The only option for you is to upload the file somewhere else and sent the shareable link to the receiver adding the link to your email. Now, this is where our next topic comes in. How to link Dropbox to Yahoo, how to use google drive to send large files via Yahoo Mail.

How to Send Large Attachments With Yahoo Mail

For attachments exceeding 25 MB in size, Yahoo Mail suggests using Dropbox or another file-transfer service. Such services let you upload large files to a company’s server, which provides a link for you to send to your recipient. The recipient downloads the file directly from the transfer service website.

Add A Link Into A Yahoo Email

Sometimes you’ll want to direct the recipient of your email to a particular webpage or website. You can do that by adding a clickable link to the webpage directly into the message.

Then all they need to do is to click the link to be taken to the page or site.

I’ll add a link to this page into the email.

The first thing to do is to copy the web address of the page you want to link to.

In your browser, find the web page, then left-click once in the address bar, directly on the writing.

The web page address will become highlighted.

If the webpage address is a short, easy one, you could skip this step and just type it in.

With the address highlighted, right-click on it.

On the menu that opens, left-click COPY.

Now log into Yahoo Mail and click COMPOSE to start a new E-Mail.

Fill in the address, subject and add whatever you want to the body of the message.

At the bottom of the window, click the LINK icon.

It looks like two links of a chain. Or at least it’s supposed to.

If you can’t see the Link icon, then it’s hidden beneath the 3 dots. You’ll see them, 3 dots arranged horizontally.

Click the 3 dots and a menu will open. You’ll be able to see the link icon on that menu. When you find it, left-click it.

The 3 dots on the menu bar.
The 3 dots on the menu bar.

3 dots in options menu.

A small pop up window appears.

The top line says “Display Text”.

You can type in a very short description.

Something like “Click Here” or “Great Website”.

Or you can just leave it blank.

The second line is where the address of your webpage needs to go.

Now here’s the tricky bit. It already has http:// in it.

If you’re going to paste the address in, you’ll need to get rid of that first.

So left click onto the second line, then use either the DELETE or BACKSPACE keys to remove that.

Then press the CTRL key and the letter V on your keyboard to paste the address you copied earlier.

If you’re typing in the website address, then you can leave the HTTP:// in place and simply begin typing at the end of it.

When you’ve filled in your web address, you can click TEST, to check it works.

When you’re happy, left-click the SAVE button.

Yahoo Mail might bring in an image from the website.

If it does and the image is too large, move your pointer over the image, and the options button will appear at the top right of the image.

Left-click once on the options button, and then left-click your choice from the menu that appears.

Message size limit set via Yahoo:

Yahoo users can send/receive emails up to 25MB in size. Apart from this, keeping your attachments, emails, below or up to 25MB will help you to deliver or receive emails quickly. And if your file attachment size is increasing, then you can compress the file from your end and send it to the sender.

Hence, it is clearly mentioned in the steps about the procedure of uploading and sending an attachment. Any further query can be discussed via getting linked with Yahoo customer support experts.
